Our Kibale (pronounced Chee-ball-ee) roast is bright and balanced with a medium-body. It is a pleasure to drink from the very first sip to the last, with subtle notes of berry.

The coffee beans are hand-picked by a small group of farmers from the Rwenzori region in Western Uganda.

 About the Kibale National Park

The Kibale National Park in Western Uganda is a protected area of about 300 sq. miles that is home to a huge diversity of primates, including over 1200 chimpanzees.

One thing that makes chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) so interesting is that they are the species most closely related to humans, with some research finding that we share 98.7% of our DNA.

Chimpanzee tracking is a popular activity in Kibale, with guides from the Uganda Wildlife Authority ensuring the safety and ethical treatment of the chimps. Small groups of 6 trek through the wet and dry tropical forests that serve as the natural habitat of the chimpanzees.

The chimps are heard before seen. Up close, behaviors and mannerisms are similar to that of humans, further reinforcing the evolutionary relationship.
