Earth Day 2026 – Our Power, Our Planet, and How Simple Choices Add Up

This Earth Day, we are proud to highlight Boarding Pass Coffee’s composting initiative and partnerships with two local farms that collect our used coffee grounds to reduce waste and improve soil health, as well as some tips on how you too can make a difference!

Today we celebrate our partners Joe Lamp’l and Goss Family Farm, who collect our organic coffee waste and repurpose as a key element of their composting. reduces landfill waste.

When organic waste like coffee grounds ends up in a landfill, it breaks down without oxygen and produces methane, a greenhouse gas more powerful than carbon dioxide. By sending our used coffee grounds to local farms for compost instead, we help prevent that methane from forming. The farms turn those grounds into nutrient-rich compost that improves soil health and supports local agriculture—turning what could be waste into a valuable resource, especially as we reflect on sustainability during Earth Day.

By composting, we can lower methane emissions, improve soil health, support local agriculture and strengthen local food systems.

But you don’t need a farm of your own to make a different! There are simple steps to
contribute to sustainability:

  • Create your backyard compost pile and add your own materials (brown compost & green compost)
  • Mix coffee grounds into garden soil
  • Support local farms that have composting programs like Goss Family Farm.

So not only is your coffee delicious, but its waste can become a resource! With local partnerships we can make a difference by composting to reducing methane gas in landfills and support healthier soil and farms.
