The La Morena program was established in 2016 to empower woman coffee farmers guatemala. In its first year, output was a 2000 lb lot from four women coffee producers in the Huehuetenango region of western Guatemala.

Today, La Morena features coffee from 23 woman-owned farms around the region with a volume of approximately 40,000 lbs. Since the program's inception, the quality of La Morena coffee beans has also increased significantly.

The foundation's efforts impact the lives of over 500 women in rural Guatemala by establishing, incubating, and strengthening woman-owned businesses. In addition to business training programs, the foundation also provides scholarships for the children of artisans to continue their primary and secondary educations.

A portion of every sale of Boarding Pass Coffee's La Morena roast will be donated to the Wakami Foundation.
